Last weekend saw the conclusion of the fourth edition of the Ewelina Kobryn Foundation’s E11 basketball camp in Kraków. This time, as many as five participants of the camp were awarded the title of best player MVP and received a trip to Paris, France, for a training camp with Mathieu Delarche, a French coach working with 8 NBA clubs.
On the last weekend of July, the fourth basketball camp of the Ewelina Kobryn E 11 Foundation ended in Krakow. For two weeks, children and young people from all over Poland perfected their basketball skills under the supervision of the champion and qualified coaches.
As many as five participants of the camp were awarded the MVP title. They were won by Wiktoria Danych from Łódź (age 12), Patrycja Sadlik from Legnica (age 18), Maria Perzyna from Piastów (age 15), Oskar Boguta from Dziwnów (age 17) and Oliwia Pełka from Sosnowiec, currently living and training in Italy (age 17).
The prize for each MVP is participation in a basketball camp organised in France with a total value of approximately PLN 20 000. The costs of the trip and participation in the camp were fully covered by the Ewelina Kobryn E11 Foundation. The MVP foursome is already in Paris, where they are training with Mathieu Delarche, the French coach of NBA clubs and owner of Hardwork Trip SARL & Hardwork Asso. Oliwia Pełka will fly out to Paris for a camp at a later convenient date.
This year’s Krakow camp took place at the Olympic Preparation Centre “Kolna” in Krakow as part of the Ewelina Kobryn E1 Foundation established at the beginning of 2023. This year, it gathered during two periods 120 young basketball adepts, who trained with Ewelina Kobryn’s outstanding coaching staff, among others. Among them were Jacek Winnicki, former selector of the Polish women’s national team, Edyta Koryzna, participant in the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000, coach of the Polish U-23 national team in 3×3 basketball, Isabelle Fijalkowski, record-holder of the French national team in the number of points scored, coach of French youth teams, member of the FIBA Hall of Fame, and Patrycja Czepiec, European Champion of 1999, coach of youth groups in Wisła Kraków, Paulina Madej, former representative of Poland, multiple national champion, Mathieu Delarche, French coach cooperating with 8 NBA clubs and coaches of youth groups, certified coaches: Wojciech Boblewski, Arkadiusz Kork, Adam Szot, Jakub Natkańc, Artur Włodarczyk and motor coaches: Daniel Miska and Natalia Malaga.
The guest of honour who opened the camp was the distinguished Ludwik Miętta-Mikołajewicz, 14-time Polish champion, long-time managing director of the Euroleague club Wisła Kraków, coach who led the Polish women’s national team to the European vice-championship.
It was a very good two training weeks. We had 150 children and young people from all over the country coming to us wanting to learn to play basketball and I think together with all our staff we helped them to do that. For us, all the children who take part in the camp win, but traditionally we identify the NVPs who stand out from the group each year. To them we have funded a trip to France, where they are just continuing their world-class training with Mathieu Delarche. We will closely follow their development and sporting successes. This year’s camp is now history, and we have another school year ahead in which we want to undertake more similar activities. Daily sports activities, passing on knowledge, building motivation, our attention and constructive conversation – all this we give to the participants of our camp. Ewelina Kobryn is one of the best Polish basketball players ever. She won the championship of the best women’s basketball league in the world WNBA with the Phoenix Mercury team. She is the first Polish woman to reach this title. During her career, she celebrated championship titles in the Euroleague, EuroCup, Russia and Spain and four times in the Polish league. After her worldwide sporting career, she returned to her hometown of Krakow, where she has been organising a basketball camp during the summer months since 2020. Its premise is to create for children and young people from all over Poland and foreign participants the best possible conditions for basketball training during the inter-season break on the model of those corresponding to the country’s senior national teams.
