The 4th Basketball Camp of the Ewelina Kobryn Foundation took place in July in Kraków. For a fortnight, children and young people from all over Poland improved their basketball skills under the supervision of the champion and qualified coaches. The guest of honour who opened the camp was the distinguished Ludwik Miętta-Mikołajewicz, 14-time Polish champion, long-time managing director of the Euroleague club Wisła Kraków, the coach who led the Polish women’s national team to the European vice-championship.
Basketball Camp 2023 took place at the Olympic Preparations Centre “Kolna” and brought together 120 young basketball adepts during two periods.
As many as five participants were awarded the title of MVP. The prize for each MVP was participation in a basketball camp in France organised by Mathieu Delarche, the French coach of NBA clubs, and owner of Hardwork Trip SARL & Hardwork Asso. The costs of the trip and participation in the camp, worth approximately 20,000 pln, were fully covered by the Ewelina Kobryn E11 Foundation.
The players trained with Jacek Winnicki, former selector of the Polish women’s national team, Edyta Koryzna, participant in the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000, coach of the Polish U-23 national team in 3×3 basketball, Isabelle Fijalkowski, record-holder of the French national team in the number of points scored, coach of French youth teams, member of the FIBA Hall of Fame, and Patrycja Czepiec, European Champion of 1999, coach of youth groups in Wisła Kraków, Paulina Madej, former representative of Poland, multiple national champion, Mathieu Delarche, French coach cooperating with 8 NBA clubs and coaches of youth groups, certified coaches: Wojciech Boblewski, Arkadiusz Kork, Adam Szot, Jakub Natkańc, Artur Włodarczyk and motor coaches: Daniel Miska and Natalia Malaga, as well as Michał Sumara, who is a coach of youth teams, coach of the first-league Academy of Wisła CanPack Kraków, and Paweł Storożyński, a multiple youth champion of France and coach of youth groups of Wisła CanPack Kraków.
As in previous years, we have invited prominent people from the world of sport and basketball, which means that the participants in the camp honed their skills under the guidance of experts and were able to learn from the best. We also emphasise the educational aspect. The foreign coaches were assisted by Polish assistants, and communication took place in both Polish and English. The high quality of training motivates our charges to work very well and has a significant impact on improving their sporting performance. This year’s edition of the camp is special for me, because it was held under the umbrella of the Ewelina Kobryn E11 Foundation. We financed a training trip to France for the most talented participants of the camp. Thanks to the activities of the Foundation, I hope that future editions of the camp can be organised on a larger scale. I also believe that in the coming years, we will be able to implement several new, necessary projects related to the promotion of, for example, women’s basketball or extracurricular basketball classes for primary school students. We want to take action, bringing about a positive change in society towards sport. We have a busy time ahead of us. Children and young people all over Poland need sports activities, motivation, our attention and constructive conversation like never before. Their needs have become the mission of our Foundation. – Ewelina Kobryn, WNBA, Euroleague, EuroCup champion of Poland, Russia, Spain, representative of Poland.
